Kenia, a dedicated Firefly for the past three years, has found our camp to be an incredible source of joy and growth. “Every summer, the unique themes and the chance to reconnect with friends draw me back,” she shares. Kenia enjoys meeting new people, saying, “I’ve made lifelong friends like Rashad, Jessica, and Salina, who make every moment here special.”

Kenia appreciates the camp’s inclusive and supportive environment. “The staff and other campers always make you feel welcomed and acknowledged,” she notes. Despite facing challenges such as uphill terrain and navigating certain activities, Kenia finds immense value in the adaptive sports and swimming sessions. “Swimming helps strengthen my muscles, and sports teach us adaptive ways to play, making them more accommodating,” she explains.

The camp has made a profound impact on her outlook. “Seeing the different experiences of disabilities and abilities here has taught me a lot about myself and others.” Kenia offers encouragement to other outstanding campers considering joining Camp Firefly as staff. “Have fun and listen; you’ll learn a lot and make lasting friendships,” she advises.

Kenia’s favorite moments include creating art, trying new activities, and simply enjoying the camaraderie around the campfire. “It amazes me how we show up with dedication and kindness,” she adds.
