Throughout the week, Rebekah enjoyed a variety of activities, including archery, arts and crafts, and making new friends.

Rebekah, a first-time camper at Camp Firefly, had an unforgettable experience filled with fun and personal growth. At just 12 years old, she bravely faced her fear of zip-lining and, with staff encouragement, overcame it to enjoy the ride. “I was scared at first, but once I let go, it was so much fun!” Rebekah recalls.

Throughout the week, Rebekah enjoyed a variety of activities, including archery, arts and crafts, and making new friends. She became particularly close with Lilly, one of the non-verbal campers, which was special for Rebekah as she has a non-verbal friend back home. This connection made her feel even more at home at camp.

Rebekah felt safe and well cared for throughout her time at Camp Firefly. “The staff and other campers made me feel so welcomed. Even though I’m pretty independent, I appreciated the help with catheterizations, changing clothes, and even setting timers for brushing my teeth,” she shares. The staff went above and beyond, even finding her a night light to help her fall asleep comfortably.

Grateful for the experience, Rebekah looks forward to returning to Camp Firefly next summer. “I can’t wait to come back and have even more fun!” she says, reflecting on her week filled with new experiences, friendships, and memories that will last a lifetime.
