Willie has faced and overcome various challenges at camp, which have helped him grow stronger and more adaptable. “Every year presents different challenges, but I overcome them and become stronger,” he reflects. His aspirations include getting a driver’s license and pursuing a career in psychology, as he excels at talking to people.

His favorite camp activities include sports, nature walks, and obstacle courses. He has learned valuable skills, such as cooking a variety of dishes, which have boosted his confidence and independence. “Cooking here taught me how to prepare pasta, rice, and salmon, which I didn’t cook much before moving out of my parents’ house,” Willie shares.

Willie’s memorable moments include meeting new people and counselors, and a significant interaction with Ranger Mike, who offered him a job. “If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be where I am right now,” he says gratefully.

When asked what he would say to someone considering attending the camp, Willie enthusiastically responds, “Do it! Go for it! You’re missing out if you don’t. You get to meet new people, make new friends, and do things you’ve never done before.” His time at camp has given him confidence and the ability to help others, which he values greatly. “This camp has helped me learn what I can and can’t do, and it’s given me the confidence to help others,” he concludes.
