On the day of the walk, registration begins at Stage AE at 7:45 a.m. and the 5K Walk begins at 9 a.m. The One-Mile Fun Walk starts at 9:15 a.m.

Q: What if I want to walk but am not sure if I and/or my family can make the 5K journey?
A: The Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community also includes a One-Mile Fun Walk for those individuals who would feel more comfortable walking a shorter distance. This option is available to you and will begin at 9:15 a.m.

Q: How do I check-in the morning of the walk?
A: When you arrive at the walk start location, please check-in at the CLASS (Community Living And Support Services) booth. If you haven’t already registered online you can do so at that time. You can also turn in cash and check donations. Once you turn in your donations, you may then proceed to get your event t-shirt. Please remember that registration begins at 7:45 a.m. and the 5K Walk begins at 9 a.m. The One-Mile Fun Walk begins at 9:15 a.m.

Q: How should I prepare for the walk?
A: On the day of the walk, participants should wear loose-fitting clothing and should layer clothes to accommodate temperature changes. Cotton or wool socks and walking shoes are also recommended. Participants who have special health needs should bring any prescription medications and a snack in case appropriate food is not available.

Q: What happens if there is inclement weather?
A: The Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community will take place rain or shine.

Q: Can I bring my children and/or a stroller?
A: Highmark Inc. and CLASS (Community Living And Support Services) welcome you and your family to the walk. The walk is accessible to strollers and wheelchairs. Fun activities will also be provided.

Q: What happens at the Highmark Walk?
A: The Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community provides a 5K walk route and 1-mile walk route.

Food, entertainment, prizes and fun activities for children are all part of the festivities. In addition, each nonprofit participating in the walk has a booth with information about their services. Some locations have free health screenings or other activities.

All registered walkers who raise or donate $30.00 will receive a Walk for a Healthy Community T-shirt while supplies last. For every $50.00 that you donate to CLASS (Community Living And Support Services), you will receive one chance for raffle prizes valued at more than $1,000.

Q: Where does my donated money go?
A: All monies donated go to support the mission of CLASS (Community Living And Support Services). Highmark Inc. has underwritten all of the walk expenses so that 100 percent of the money you raise will go directly to the CLASS to support the programs CLASS offers.

Q: When must I submit my donations?
A: All donations not made online should be placed in an envelope and given to the representatives at the CLASS registration booth on the day of the walk. Please make sure all checks are made payable to CLASS.

Q: Who should I name as the payee on my donation check?
A: Donations by check should be made payable to CLASS. Please note, checks will be returned if made payable to Highmark Inc.

Q: Can I bring my dog?
A: Yes, nonaggressive dogs are permitted at the event on a leash.

Q: How do I get a Walk T-shirt?
A: All registered walkers who raise or donate $30.00 will receive a Walk T-shirt while supplies last. You must be a registered walker and attend the Walk to receive a T-shirt.
